About

About

I bring nearly 30 years of experience in higher education, serving in roles that range from classroom instructor to Tribal College President and Vice President of Academic Affairs. My career has been dedicated to building capacity in education, research, and community development through effective leadership, strategic planning, and grant acquisition.

I have successfully authored and evaluated multi-million-dollar grants funded by agencies such as the National Science Foundation (NSF), the U.S. Department of Agriculture/NIFA, the U.S. Department of Education, the CDC, and the Rehabilitation Services Administration. In addition to authoring, I have served as an NSF grant reviewer, bringing insider perspective on how proposals are evaluated.

Leadership & Experience

  • Higher Education Leadership – Served as a Tribal College President, Vice President of Academic Affairs, and faculty member, while also working closely with mainstream and research universities.
  • Grant Development & Evaluation – Lead author and external evaluator on federal grants, specializing in creating competitive proposals and producing meaningful evaluation reports.
  • STEM Program Development – Led Sunday Academies, university partnerships, and Tribal College summer camps to expand access to STEM opportunities for Native youth.
  • Strategic Planning – Facilitated planning sessions across four North Dakota Tribal Colleges using Nominal Group Techniques, ensuring inclusive decision-making and strong stakeholder buy-in.
  • Research Leadership – Founded and organized the North Dakota Tribal College Research Symposium — the only event of its kind — through a partnership with North Dakota INBRE, where I served as a college director.

I value equitable partnerships and believe in bridging Indigenous and Western educational approaches to create sustainable, impactful programs. My experience working across Tribal Colleges, mainstream universities, and research institutions allows me to support organizations of all sizes in achieving their goals.
